Easter 2018 Update
Easter is a great time to think about new beginnings, about opportunity and hope. We are thankful you're on this journey with us as we look to bring hope and opportunity through our work in the Northern Territory.
Ken Duncan and all our Walk a While team send warmest Easter greetings as we provide you with an update on our work at this special time of year.
Community Update
The creative passion and faith of community members at Haasts Bluff continues to inspire us as we walk with them to support their creative gifts. Easter is a special time for the community, as local people have historically met for "sing-a-long" gatherings to celebrate the Easter message at a site close to Memory Mountain, where the cross is being built.
On a recent, visit Ken and the team delivered some new sound equipment for the Creative Media Centre which will be used for future sing-a-long gatherings. As well as photography and film making, the community has many gifted musicians and we look forward to them being able to share their culture and creative talents with you.
Musical Gifts
Kieran Multa, a gifted local man, soon got to grips with the mixing desk, amplifier and speakers.
Your support enables the training of local people and is essential as we bring the vision for the Creative Media Centre to life. When the centre is complete community members will also be able to record and share their music online.
The Cross
Work is progressing well on the track to the top of Memory Mountain where the cross will be built. This is our construction vehicle near the top. The community are excited that the project is advancing well. It's still a construction, site so don't plan your visit just yet. But jump on our new website for updates and how to support the work to complete the cross!
The Road Ahead
Over the coming months we expect to finalise the lease on the Creative Media Centre in Haasts Bluff so we'll have a secure home for our creative education programmes. We have continued to visit and have been able to use the building, but we still have to work through the legal processes to finalise our tenancy. The good news is this is almost complete.
We do need your continued financial support to bring the centre on line and finalise work to complete not just the cross, but also activities that will enable you to visit and - importantly - sustainable and life transforming benefit to flow to the community.
Please contact us if you'd like to find out more about all we are doing. Contact details are on our new website. Meanwhile have an awesome Easter and thank you again on behalf of the people of Haasts Bluff and surrounding areas for your continued support. It really will bring hope, opportunity and new beginnings to people not just at Easter but every day in the years ahead.
Blessings & Thanks
